We offer several styles of dance...

Bokwa Fitness

Bokwa is a fantastic new exercise dance programme which represents 'Bo' (light boxing) and 'Kwa' (African hip-hop style music). We set it to current chart dance music with infectious beats and use highly visible hand signals and simple fundamentals based on number/letter shapes to make the exercise very accessible, even to the hard of hearing or in large classes, to children and adults alike.

Ballroom and Latin American

For beginnners, the elegant Waltz and energetic Quickstep are firm Ballroom favourites.  Romantic Rumba is the classic Latin dance - for contrast learn its fun Caribbean cousin, the Cha Cha Cha, or the lively Jive.

Ballroom improvers will move on to the dramatic Tango - or for something different, why not try the deceptively simple Viennese Waltz?  The Paso Doble is an often-neglected Latin dance but great fun, requiring no harm to animals.

Aficionados will learn the sublime Foxtrot or the complex rhythms of the Samba.  Wait till you've mastered the rest of the dances and your patience will be rewarded as you move with the flow of the music.

'Club' Styles

There's plenty of places you can go to be herded like cattle, swapped from one sweaty partner to the next and any questions you may have are answered with a 'just practice, you'll get the hang of it' - sound familiar?

The so-called 'Club' styles may not share the technique of the more traditional dances but you may still have questions or sticking points which only a qualified and experienced teacher can help you with.

A type of Jive, Rock 'n' Roll is a simple social dance to great music - think Johnny B. Goode, Rock Around the Clock, Jailhouse Rock, we have all the great originals!

Salsa is a firm favourite at Dance Street.  We don't get bogged down splitting everything into different styles - if it feels good, it's fancy and it flows, it's in!  Fantastic, exciting music is a hallmark of great Salsa.  In our book, you can't beat a bit of Wayne Gorbea, Alex Leon or (call us soppy girls' blouses) Victor Manuelle.

If you ask us nicely we could teach you some Merengue too.  Especially if you say you have 'two left feet' - you can't go wrong with this dance!  We quite like it to 'Lambada', 'Hot Hot Hot' or 'Mas Que Nada' - or anything by Fulanito for all you hardcore Merengue fans...

Up Our Sleeves

We're pretty flexible at Dance Street, but not quite like that Louie Spence on Sky 1.  We mean we like a challenge, like teaching Street Dance to Guide units, for example.

If you have a special song and it doesn't fit a known dance style - or you just want something unique to you, for example at a wedding - we can fit the moves to the song.

Rumour has it we also dressed up as Ali Baba and took a party of Brownies onto the AFC Bournemouth pitch for a Belly Dance - but don't believe everything you read on the internet...
